Dexter cattle are slow maturing making the meat beautifully marbled and tender. They are best finished on grass between 20 – 24 months, so no stuffing with meals and nuts to make huge weights. They can get to 300/350 Kgs on reasonable good grasslands but are great foragers, thriving on diverse environments where they can browse on things like willow, alder, gorse and heather. So ideal for counties like Donegal.
To make the consumer aware of the quality of this delicious meat.
Dexter Cattle are renowned for the quality and taste of their meat. The beef is marbled and has a delicious, succulent flavour.
Pedigree Dexter beef, which comes in smaller family sized joints and cuts, is an outstanding quality product, cooks superbly because of the excellent marbling and eats like a dream. Dexter beef appears regularly on TV cooking programmes, is available across the country, is the best beef around and more and more consumers are becoming aware of its high quality.

https://butchermagazine.com/dexter-beef/ This is a butcher’s experience with Dexter beef. Very impressive, like beef used to taste when I started 50 years ago. Excellent.
